"Skeleton and Roses" Grateful Dead Perfect Edition Digital Print

Greatful Dead limited edition of 350 ("perfect series") digital fine art print, 17"w x 23.25"h image size; 22"w x 30"h overall on heavy Arches pH neutral, acid-free paper. Artwork by Stanley Mouse at MouseStudios, hand-signed and numbered by the artist Unmatted/unframed. The first time this image hit the scene was on an Avalon Ballroom concert poster, when the Greatful Dead were just another San Francisco rock band. Mouse and Kelley would spend their days in the back rooms of the San Francisco library digging through art books. When Kelley saw Edmund J. Sullivan's illustration of the Skeleton in the Rubaiyat, he said: "This has Grateful Dead all over it." The band related so well to the poster art that they then used it for an album cover, and eventually made it their logo. The Skeleton and Roses is one of the most widely recognized rock icons ever and was featured on records such as 1971's "Skull and Roses" live album and Rhino's 2001 Rhino multi-disc compilation "The Golden Road".
