Mcfarlane Puts The Beatles Cartoon Action Figures in a Box Set

Mcfarlane Toys jumped on the Beatles action figure bandwagon by depicting the Beatles with a twist. In 2005, Mcfarlane Toys released a Beatles action figure box set of the Beatles as they were seen in their 1960’s cartoon. The action figure box set includes all four of the Beatles with their instruments.

Born From a Saturday Morning Cartoon:

The Mcfarlane Toys Beatles action figure box set is based on the Beatles cartoon that aired in the United States from September 25th, 1965 to April 20, 1969. The Beatles cartoon was a success in the United States, but it never caught on in Europe because of the overdubbing of the cartoon. The voices of The Beatles were done by Paul Frees, an American who did the voices of John and George, and Lance Percival, an Englishman who did the voices of Paul and Ringo. This was part of the reason for the limited success of the cartoon. European fans couldn’t get over the fake English accents of the Beatles characters. Each episode of the Beatles cartoon usually included the Beatles on a short adventure. In addition, each episode usually had one or two sing-a-long song scenes that featured different Beatles songs. As the songs played, the lyrics bounced across the screen.

"Not a Second Time” Episode Immortalized in Plastic:

The Mcfarlane Beatles cartoon figures are based on the fourth episode of the 1960’s Saturday morning cartoon. The episode was titled “Not a Second Time”. During the episode, the Beatles were mobbed by crazy fans so they end up abandoning their flight in Africa to escape. Later in the episode, the fab four run into a couple crocodiles and sing Baby’s in Black and Misery.

The Mcfarlane Toys Saturday Morning Cartoon Beatles Box Set:

The Beatles cartoon figures from Mcfarlane Toys features caricature action figures of all the Beatles. The seven inch action figures each come with their real-life instruments as accessories. The guitar and bass accessories have limited detailing to stick with the simplistic and exaggerated styling of the Beatles action figures. The Ringo action figure comes in a sitting position on a small stool to put behind the drum set that is also included in the Beatles action figure box set. To top it all off, one of the crocodiles from the “Not a Second Time” episode even made it into the Mcfarlane Beatles action figure box set!
